Frankenstein had two different head sculpts. He was initially sold with a "flat top." Due to licensing issues, Mego had to change the sculpt. A small number of flat top heads were painted blue before Mego came out with the new sculpt. Blue-Haired Frankenstein figures are very rare and desired by collectors.

In 1980, Type 2 Frankenstein figures were sold by Mego subsidiary Lion Rock. The face is pale white and the shirt is blue-gray instead of purple-gray.

Type 1 and Type 2 Mego monsters have glow-in-the dark hands with outstretched fingers and claws. Lion Rock hands are standard Type 2 Mego hands that also glow in the dark.

Lion Rock Frankenstein and Wolfman have different style boots than their Mego counterparts.
